Over (2015) Jorn Threllfall

Narrative:
- Follows the police investigation of a crime.
- True life story of a man falling from a plane flying over London, as he had hidden in the landing gear and fell out when it was deployed.
- Doesn't follow a linear narrative, almost tells the story in reverse.

Genre:
- Crime: hardly any dialogue, shows the clues, focuses on the police, close ups of blood.

Representation:
- Takes place in an average English village, this makes up believe that this is going to be about an ordinary crime, and therefore we do not expect the man to fall.
- Lays flowers at the scene of the crime, symbolises death, hints at what has happened.
- Young looking clothing, hints towards the idea of a robbery due to this being the sort of clothes our idea of a stereotypical robber would wear.

Audience:
- On looking the police investigation, makes it feel more like a story, we don't get any important information.
- Slow paced, this builds tension and makes it seem like a dull crime, would work as well with a feature length film as the audience would likely get bored by the lack of action.
- Made confused by the non linear narrative.
- The audience spends the film trying to piece together the crime, makes the end more surprising as we expect it to be a murder or a robbery gone wrong.
- Plane flying over hints to the what has actually happened.
- Jump scare when he hits the car, shocks the audience.
- The fact that it is a true story builds a lot of sympathy within the audience. Due to being a true story it stays in your mind after you finish the film cause it makes you wonder how something like that could happen, and the film leaves you with a lot of questions.

Micro Elements:
- Time updates throughout the film.
- Cuts to morning, leaves us without information.
- We don't see any of the action until the end.
- Long shots of crime scene.
- Flowers symbolise death.
- Close up on blood.
- Kids playing football, normalises setting.
- Car drives past the camera.
- Close up on evidence and clothing.
- Hand held camera
- Almost flashback like.
- Circling camera around the spot of the crime.
- On looking, we focus more on the setting.
- Natural sounds
- Jump when the body falls.
- Car alarm.
- End music goes from one ear to the other which makes your ears feel weird like you are on a plane.

I liked the true story aspect of the film as it made the story stick with you more, as you think about the story long after you've finished watching it.

I like the idea of using a non linear narrative as it makes the film more shocking.
